Radar Products Description

CAPPI - Constant Altitude Plan Position Indicator (CAPPI) is a radar product which uses a horizontal cross-section at a specific altitude and combines multiple position indicator measurements at different elevation angles to analyse the reflectivity of a set point. This is used for the 150 mile, 30 mile and Sister Island range.

PPI - Plan Position Indicator (PPI) is a similar type of display to CAPPI, but visualises the data at one angle. This image is used for the 250 mile range.

DPSRI - Differential Precipitation Surface Rainfall Intensity (DPSRI) is a derived product for the rate of rainfall occuring on the surface whilst utilising CAPPI reflectivity and the Z/R equation to calculate the rainfall intensity in millimeters per hour (mm/hr). This product is used for the 150 mile, 30 mile and Sister Island range.
