Today's Forecast

Synopsis

Generally fair conditions with lingering amounts of dust haze are expected to prevail through this evening as a ridge of high-pressure remains anchored over the Caribbean Sea, bringing in periods of drier air from the central Caribbean. The chance of an early-morning shower remains across the Island chain, mainly for the Sister Islands as moisture advection moves off the Cuban coast overnight. Moderate to locally fresh winds can also be expected through this evening before subsiding Monday afternoon as the pressure gradient remains tightened over the northwest Caribbean. Satellite imagery shows very few amounts of shallow low-level cloud along with a layer of high-level cloud moving across the Cayman area.

Outlook

is for similar weather conditions through the next few days as the ridge of high-pressure remains the dominant feature over the Caribbean. From Monday morning, a moderate to high concentration of Saharan dust is expected to move through the central Caribbean and expected to drift into the western Caribbean by Tuesday afternoon. Dust advisories and messaging will be issued on Monday as a result of these expected conditions.
