Active Tropical Wave

The Cayman Islands Government and the Cayman Islands National Weather Service are monitoring an area of low pressure currently moving westward over the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

The system is expected to move west to northwest over the next 7 days while still remaining over the Atlantic. Environmental conditions are expected to become more favourable for further development later this week and a tropical depression could form.

This system poses no threat to the Cayman Islands. The National Weather Service continues to track the system closely for any changes in forecast track.

As we move into the more historically active stage of the hurricane season, members of the public are encouraged to remain alert and to monitor official updates from the Cayman Islands National Weather Service and Hazard Management Cayman Islands for the latest information. On an ongoing basis, the National Weather Service monitors tropical systems as they develop, and will provide regular updates through its daily forecasts when systems require closer attention.
