Chief Meteorologist Kerry Powery has been appointed Director General of the Cayman Islands National Weather Service, following an internal recruitment process. He assumed the position today, 1 September 2026.

After more than four decades of public service, Director General John Tibbetts will retire from the Cayman Islands National Weather Service at the end of this month, bringing to a close a career of more than 41-years dedicated to strengthening the Cayman Islands' weather services and national preparedness.
